Discipleship Pathway
Here at ECC….. we believe that discipleship happens in 3 places:
Large gatherings
Small groups
1:1 discipleship
By engaging in the above we should go through discipleship pathway which will aid our lifelong journey with Christ where we will grow in spiritual maturity. Every person in our church is on a journey. We want people to know God deeply, belong to God's family, and live on mission. Large gatherings, Small groups and 1:1 discipleship are where that journey is intentionally lived out.
Discipleship Pathway Journey
Spiritual Infant — The Learning Stage 🌱
Where you might be: You're experiencing new life in Christ, and everything feels fresh — new truths to take in, new habits to build, new ways of seeing the world. Maybe you're brand new to faith, or maybe you're realizing there's a lot you never learned. Either way, you're in a beautiful stage of discovery. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — you're simply learning.
Growing from here: Soak up truth — read Scripture, ask questions, sit under good teaching. Start small, repeatable habits (prayer, reading, worship) that help your new life take root. Give yourself grace as you build these rhythms; they don't happen overnight.
Spiritual Adolescent — The Connecting Stage 🌿
Where you might be: You're moving beyond just learning and starting to connect — deepening your relationship with God, finding your place in a family of believers or a small group, and beginning to sense there's a purpose for your life beyond yourself. This is exciting territory. You're not meant to grow alone, and the fact that you're seeking connection is a real sign of maturing faith.
Growing from here: Pursue a real relationship with God, not just information about Him. Get planted — commit to a church family or small group where people know you. Start asking, "What is God's purpose for me?" and stay curious about the answer.
Spiritual Young Adult — The Starting to Serve Stage 🌳
Where you might be: You're ready to be released to serve others — not because you have it all together, but because you've grown enough to give, not just receive. You're looking for opportunities to serve and being equipped with what you need to do it well. This is where your faith starts to bear fruit that reaches beyond you.
Growing from here: Say yes to serving opportunities, even small ones — they build your confidence and skill. Seek out equipping (training, mentorship, practice) so you serve well, not just willingly. Let yourself be sent — you're ready more than you think.
Spiritual Parent — The Discipling Others Stage 🌾
Where you might be: You've moved into reproducing what was given to you — teaching others to do what you've learned to do, walking closely with people you're discipling, and able to explain your faith to others with real confidence. This is a rich, generative season — your growth is now multiplying through other people's lives.
Growing from here: Intentionally teach, don't just serve alongside others — pass on what you know. Invest relationally in a disciple or two, not just a crowd. Keep sharpening how you explain your faith so you can do it clearly and confidently whenever the moment comes.
Where Discipleship happens
Large Gatherings
We gather together to worship, hear God’s Word, pray and grow as one church family. Our Sunday services and wider gatherings help us encounter God, receive teaching and be equipped to live out our faith throughout the week.
Small Groups
Small groups are where discipleship is lived out in community. Meeting in homes and other spaces throughout the week, we build meaningful relationships, explore God’s Word, pray, care for one another and encourage each other to grow and live on mission.
1:1 Discipleship
Discipleship becomes personal through intentional one-to-one relationships. We encourage people to journey alongside one another, helping each other grow in spiritual maturity, follow Jesus in everyday life and, in time, disciple others. Small Circle is the tool we use to guide us in our 1:1 discipleship journey.
