Spring, summer, autumn, and winter seasons are seasons we all go through whether we like it or not. These seasons also teach us about our spiritual life and God’s way.
Prayer:
Lord, help us like the sons of Issachar to discern accurately the times and seasons of our life. Forgive us for fighting the things you send into our life to help plant something new. Open my eyes to where you may be redirecting me to something new or to a different season.
Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 - There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build………a time for war and a time for peace.
Wednesday 8th April
Loss causes us to face our humanity and our limitations. We quickly understand that we’re not in control of our lives, but God is. Read the account of John the Baptist
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the pride that causes me to see interruption to my plans as invasions. Forgive me for trying to do more that you intend with my life. Help me to be like John the Baptist, accepting my losses and understanding my limits.
Scripture:

Teach us what being real in prayer looks like as we draw near to the throne of grace and mercy.
Scripture:
Luke 19:41-44 - As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said “If you, even you, had known on this day what would bring you peace – but now it is hidden from your eyes………….you did not recognise the time of God coming to you”

The God-like response to loss or disappointment is not to ignore it or a cover-up. Scripture teaches us to deal honestly and prayerfully when we experience such realities.

When we are tempted to ignore or cover-up our losses, may the Lord grant us courage to see and wait on Him.
Scripture:
Hebrews 5:7-8 - During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears… and he was heard because of his reverent submission...
Saturday 11th April
This account of Job teaches us how to trust in the living God when we suffer losses, hardship, and disappointment.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust and wait on you especially in areas where I can’t see what you are doing, or the end to the suffering and hardship.
Scripture:
Job 42:12-17 - The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part… And so, Job died, an old man full of years.
