Week 5
Theme: Enlarge Your Soul through Grief and Loss
29-31st March
Staying with Jesus during these challenging times – remaining, abiding, communing with him makes the difference. [Peter Scazzero]
Sunday 29th March
Prayer:
Father, when I think about my losses, it feels like I have no skin to protect me. I feel raw and scraped to the bone. Looking at Job and Jesus, helps, but I must confess that I struggle to see something new being birthed out of the old. Lord, will you enlarge my soul through the trials and losses of my life for your glory.
SCRIPTURE - Matthew 26:36-39
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called “Gethsemane” and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray”…..Yet not as I will, but as you will”.
Monday 30th March
Prayer:
Lord, everything in me kicks against coming to the foot of the cross where you will root out of me all that is not of you. Help me Lord, not to fear the “deaths” it will take to be transformed into a free person who loves you and others well. Lord have mercy on me!!
SCRIPTURE - 2 Corinthians 4:7-11
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
Tuesday 31st March
Prayer:
Father, I can only bow to you before such unimaginable sufferings. I join with Spafford and pray to you: “Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.
SCRIPTURE - Psalm 22: 1-5
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?....to you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted…
